Background: Once upon a time, Franklin Thomas Hunter (called Frankie) was a promising young student of magic. His talent for astral projection and traversing the Void garnered the attention of the recruiters of St. George's College for Magic, and once there, his skills further attracted the attention of a powerful but secretive coven.

The coven took Frankie under their wing and told him of a prophecy--a young man with a connection to the Void would save the world from the Void itself. For the Void, while vital to the balance of the universe, could be hungry, and it had begun to encroach the barrier between the planes. If a ritual was not performed, and the Void held back, the world would be consumed by the vast nothingness that was the Void.

So Frankie trained, and learned, and his connection to the Void strengthened until his mentors deemed him ready to perform the ritual. But when he took his place in the magic circle, the truth was revealed. He was no savior, but a sacrifice. The coven had chosen him for his connection to the Void so that they could create the Void Incarnate: a human vessel for the Void that would have its power and be magically bound to serve them.

Their ritual was successful, and Frankie became the Void Incarnate, but the coven underestimated the power their tool would have. Frankie had become one with the Void as a whole, and through that unity gained the might of the infinite nothingness. His ascension into that power created a vacuum in the ritual hall, and all the coven members in attendance were consumed by the Void itself, their entire existence erased from the world.

Frankie gained the power of a god, but it came at a price. His creation also consumed his own existence from the world, and he lost everything: humanity, family, friends, all forgot he ever existed, and his own connection to magic was lost. His memories, too, were scattered and broken, and in the aftermath of the ritual he became a monster, roaming the darkness and shadows near the school as he slowly put his mind back together and learned what it meant to be the Void Incarnate.

Abilities: Control over shadows/darkness, shapeshifting (wolf form, shadow form, human form), shadow travel, superhuman strength, superhuman speed, superhuman agility, invulnerability, immortality, full control of the Void, localized black holes

Age: 22 at the time of the ritual, but with the transformation he became ageless, and time doesn't exist in the Void so whenever he goes there he essentially exists for an eternity regardless of how much time goes by in the world. Basically, age doesn't really apply to him anymore.

Appearance: PB is Ben Barnes. In human form, Frankie has shoulder-length dark brown hair and black eyes. When he uses his Void powers, or connects with the Void, his eyes turn fully black, with no whites. He can appear in whatever clothes he chooses, but he usually isn't thinking too hard about it so generally it's a comfortable Henley style shirt, jeans, and sneakers.

In his wolf form, Frankie can take almost any size from "large dog" to "fuckoff huge." The wolf is completely black, and almost appears to be a total absence of light where there should be a creature. Wisps of shadow trail from his form. His eyes are like two shining stars in the pits of a midnight sky.

In shadow form, Frankie can take any shadow shape and become any shadow, anywhere.

Personality: When he was human, Frankie was friendly, outgoing, creative, and cared deeply for his friends. Despite his ambivalence toward rules and authority, Frankie was a model student and did very well in school. While he could have easily fit in anywhere he chose, Frankie was drawn to artists and outsiders, as he was inspired by their creativity, passion, and rejection of social norms. Though socially adept, Frankie often had difficulty expressing his true emotions and being vulnerable with the people he cared about.

After his transformation, Frankie was, for a long time, in deep mourning for what had happened to him and everything that had been taken from him. He felt a strong need for revenge, and wanted to destroy what remained of the coven that had betrayed him (and which still sought to control him). His emotions are much less easily controlled, and he is quick to anger, and reluctant to trust. He feels a need to protect those he views as in a similar position to him--used and abused by those more powerful. He is lonely, and longs for anything that can make him feel human again.
